SDP FIRST YEAR ACADEMIC MENTORING PROGRAM

The Mentor Program was initiated and piloted in 2014 and was very successful as it impacted significantly on the development and growth of our first year students.

Purpose: To provide the necessary support and guidance to first year social work students in order to assist with their adjustment to university and their academic and personal development.

Mentors: 3RD year social work students are recruited and trained as mentors. Mentors are carefully selected and prepared through a series of workshops conducted by the Coordinator. They conduct weekly mentoring sessions with small groups of first year students. The Mentorship Programme benefit the development of both the students who are mentored and the mentors.

Coordinator: Dr. Razia Nordien-Lagardien
