
Dr Natalie Mansvelt is a lecturer in the Department of Social Development Professions. Her research and community engagement interest is in the area of hunger or food insecurity among higher education students, particularly from a student-centred, humanizing and sustainable approach. In terms of research methodologies, she is experienced in participatory action research.
Natalie is currently supervising four Masters’ and two Doctoral students. She is a reviewer for the journal Social Work/Maatskaplike Werk. Her teaching focus area is on community development – she teaches this on undergraduate level and also coordinates the practical work of social work students. Furthermore she facilitates ethical service learning opportunities for international students through a short learning programme.
