
Prof Veonna Goliath is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Development Professions. She lectures in the area of Addictions and other social issues; Introduction to Social Work; and Advanced Social Work Skills at the undergraduate level. She is the coordinator of the Clinical Social Work Masters Programme and lectures the Clinical Social Work Intervention Individual and Family Counselling Modules; and is also the Clinical Supervisor of the Clinical Masters Practicum students. Her research focus is on Addictions; Mental health and Wellness; School Social work; and Decolonisation. She has more than 17 years of experience in Academia and has supervised 31 Masters studies and 2 Phd studies. She examined postgraduate studies for more than 12 HEI’s and is on the review board of two Social work Journals.
She is part of several local, national and international collaborations; and has worked on two NRF-funded research and engagement projects respectively; completed three projects for non-degree purposes, and is in the final stages of completing the Masakhane Supported Employment Project for youth with intellectual disabilities. Her passion is Community Engagement, and she serves as the Departmental Community Engagement and Transformation Representative at the Faculty level and is an active partner in The Hope Revolution Vision (THRV) Engagement project, and coordinator of the Student Chapter of THRV and the URC Gelvandale THRV project. She works with the Social Work student society, and is the Departmental coordinator for Student Work integrated learning and training partnerships; CPD and Short Learning Programmes.
